River Yar Boatyard has been operating as a boatyard for more than 50 years.

Boats are in our blood. Jamie Allen has been running the boatyard for over 10 years, and before that his father and grandfather. When the team aren’t working in the yard, you can find most of them out and about on the water.

The team are always on hand to help out or offer advice. Jamie runs the day to day operations in the yard and oversees boat movements with the help of Lee and his team. Boat repairs, cleaning, polishing and refits are handled by a team led by Matt, who has spent most of his working life around boats, and has gathered a wealth of knowledge in a wide variety of repair techniques and systems. The boatyard can take on everything from minor GRP chips to full refits and rebuilds. We also carry out insurance repair work for most insurance companies.

Engineering and electrical work on site is carried out by Wight Marine (01983 760521), who have years of experience in engineering and are also Main agents for Volvo Penta, Honda, Mercruiser inboards and service agents for Mercury and Mariner. Wight Marine are also suppliers of Highfield RIBs, ranging from small tenders up to larger cruising RIBs.

We pride ourselves on customer service and a friendly, helpful environment. No job too big or too small.

We have walk ashore moorings for vessels up to 16 metres. We also offer storage ashore, both short and long term. Dry sailing packages are also available.

The slipway is operated with the benefit of up to date boat moving equipment, new in 2022. The ‘Parklev’ is a French design used in over 70 marinas worldwide and nicknamed ‘Le Gentil’ and it has certainly lived up to this name.
